St Godric's RCVA PrimaryNewsCentenary CelebrationsWe celebrated our 100th birthday recently and a fabulous time was had by all. Rev. Bishop Seamus Cunningham celebrated Mass with us on the 9th October to help us reflect and look back on the impact the school has had on the local community. Pupils past and present participated and the singing was particularly inspiring. A whole day of festivities took place on the 15th October with the students leading a presentation based on the life of the school. Poems, songs and small scenes were performed to illustrate how the school had changed over the last 100 years. Remembrance DayClass 4 participated in the Remembrance service, together with children from Thornley Primary School, which took place at Thornley memorial at 11am on the 11th November. Children each placed a small poppy, with a prayer of remembrance on the front, at the foot of the memorial. A minister spoke to the assorted children, staff and members of the community about the importance of remembrance in the future and for future generations. In Flanders Field by John McCrae was read and The Last Post was then heard and children reflected on the sacrifice of those who have fought for us over the years.
