St. Godric’s Mini Vinnies ‘Turning concern into action’
Mini Vinnies are a prayer group that put concern into action through prayer, fundraising and community events. Recently, the Mini Vinnies visited the local care home as a way of reaching the elderly of our community and showing them that we value them. While they were there, they sang songs, chatted with the residents and gave out prayer cards to show that we were thinking about them.
This term many children decided to join our Mini Vinnies group, led by our school Chaplain, Mrs Wilson. Our Mini Vinnies were thinking about how we could help those in our community, as part of the Year of Mercy. They came up with the idea to visit our local care home as they felt that the elderly of our communities were sometimes left out and sometimes lonely. They sang a song, gave out prayer cards and had nice long chat with many of the residents. It was a truly memorable experience for them. Here is our group:
