World Book Day 2018
We began our celebrations for World Book Day 2018 with an assembly all about how brilliant books were. Each class showed the other classes their costumes and they had to guess which character they had come dressed as. During the day we took part in a number of World Book Day activities such as reading with our buddies and a book swap.
On Friday 9th February the children took part in our annual sponsored pancake flip. Each child had one minute to see how many flips they could do in the given time. Prizes were given to the person who flipped the most pancakes in each class and our new school pancake flipping champion was Hope Turnbull in Class 4. Well done Hope!
As a result of your generosity, the children raised nearly £600 for school funds. Thank you to everyone who sponsored the children.
We have talented musicians in our school. At our most recent performance, Jamie, one of our music teachers, led the children in showcasing their talents in guitar, ukulele and steel pans.
KS2 Carol Service
We held our annual carol service in our parish church and all of the children sang beautifully.
Red Nose Day 2017 – Talent Show
The school enjoyed lots of fun and laughter to celebrate Red Nose Day 2017. As well as non uniform day, the children and staff wore funny hair and hats to raise lots of money. The children also took part in a talent show which allowed them the opportunity to show how hugely talented they all are.
Class 1 Assembly
Class 1 learned all about the Hindu Festival Holi. They discovered that Holi is the festival of colour to celebrate the beginning of Spring. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about a different faith and celebrated all they learned by doing a wonderful assembly for all of the children in the school as well as members of their family.
Class 2 Chinese New Year Assembly
Today Class 2 held a wonderful assembly all about Chinese New Year. It was great fun to learn about traditions and customs that are different from ours. The children in Class 2 taught everyone at St. Godrics something new today. It was great! Gung Hey Fat Choy!
We Love Reading!
We held a competition in school to find the most unusual place to read our favourite book. The children were photographed reading in strange places and entered their photograph into the competition. Here are some of the entries.
Thank you to all of the parents who came to see the wonderful KS1 Christmas Performance. The children thoroughly enjoyed performing in front of their families and sharing the story of the birth of Jesus.
Our Friends of the School held another successful disco for our children. There was lots of fun, lots of costumes and lots of dancing. A great time was had by all.
Many thanks to all who came to our special E-Safety Assembly. We hope you found it fun and informative. Special thanks also go to Pauline Stewart, from the ITSS support team, who helped us to deliver some very important information regarding keeping ourselves safe online. Each class delivered a short presentation to share what they had been learnt about in class about the importance of staying safe when using our computers, tablets and games machines. Please visit our parents section, for more specific information. Well done to all – it was a great week!
Macmillan Coffee Afternoon
The Macmillan coffee afternoon which took place on Thursday 29th September went extremely well raising lots of money for a much deserved charity. There was a fantastic turnout and everyone had a brilliant time, enjoying the delicious cakes and drinks that were on offer. Thank you to everyone who donated the cakes and to all that helped to make the afternoon such a success. We managed to raise nearly £500.
